For those of You,who we call "Snow-Birds", Welcome Home and hope you had a safe trip back!! Well, now that most of the "smoke" is done being blown about National Health Care package, it will be interesting to see who really benefits by these programs, I for one Hope this package works out for ALL those who really deserve better coverage after working hard all their lives, raising families, serving their Communities etc. NOW IT'S OUR TIME,we'll see, should and could make for some interesting upcoming Elections. Is it just ME, or have you noticed, be it local ,state or federal elections, especially the local ones, each and every candidate comes up with their mission statement if elected, I will keep taxes down, attract jobs, make our City, Town or Village a "SAFER" place to live and raise a family, sounds good. BUT how many of those dedicated, want to be Leaders ever stand up like real people and say..if elected "I will make sure our firehouses, equipment and most important of ALL, personnel, are kept at a safe and proper level,". And even better yet , Our fire units are for OUR Community, and other Communities will be assisted only in DISASTEROUS EVENTS, You get the picture!! Maybe if there are such leaders in this State, we should recognize them in some way, shouldn't take a big stage for the ceremonies. Those are the same folks who should "Stand-Up" for Their Retirees rights in their Communities...of that Soap-Box for awhile,but will keep watching for this to occur. In a few weeks,Dave Wenzel,Tim Healy and I will attend the Annual Annuitants meeting in Madison, and will find out just exactly is going on in the Pension world,we will be joined by our advisor, Joe Strohl.
