DAVE WENZEL, SECRETARY - TREASURER S68 W17281 ROSSMAR CT. - MUSKEGO, WI 53150 262-679-3212, ddrywl@sbcglobal.net October 2011 Members and Spouses Where did summer go? This first week of October has been beautiful but we know it won't last forever, so enjoy it well we can. Our conference went well although attendance seems to drop a little each year we still had about 50 attending. Both Keith Bozarth from the Sate of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) and Dave Stella from the Employee Trust Fund (ETF) announced their retirement and this was their last conference with us. The news they brought was not good but with the economy bouncing all over the place only time will tell what our pensions will do. For a little update on membership and finances we currently have 784 members and as of August 31, 2011 we had $60,271.43 on hand. I am enclosing a 2012 renewal application in this mailing. Now pay attention if you receive one it is for 2012 dues and it is not due until January 1 but you can send it in any time between now and January 1. If you do not receive a renewal form it means you are already paid for 2012. If you are just turning 80 or have been over 80 for sometime please return the form so I know your still with us and want to remain a member. A couple of dates to remember for next year are August 26 & 27 for our golf outing and September 27 for our annual conference. As always if you know of a member passing away please let me know. Check out our web page at rpffw.org for clothing, decals etc as well as updates. If you have not signed up for our emails you can do so on our web page and you will receive updates as soon as we do. So Tim Healy went to visit his doctor last week and the doc asked him what he did the previous day. "Well, yesterday afternoon, I waded across the edge of a lake, escaped from a mountain lion in the heavy brush, marched up and down a mountain, stood in a patch of poison ivy, crawled out of quick sand and jumped away from an aggressive rattlesnake". Inspired by Tim's story the doctor said "You must be an awesome outdoors man!" "No", Tim replied, "I'm just a shitty golfer". Dave |
