DAVE WENZEL, SECRETARY - TREASURER S68 W17281 ROSSMAR CT. - MUSKEGO, WI 53150 262-679-3212, ddrywl@sbcglobal.net April 2010 Brothers and Sisters Well I survived another 6 week stint in Florida and survival was tough. It was the coldest winter in 96 years in the St Pete area where I was. As cold and windy as it was I hear it was still warmer then here in Wisconsin although I hear the winter was quite mild here. For those of you who have not heard the changes on our pensions beginning May 1st will be a -1.3% on the core (fixed) and a +22% on the variable. It could have been a lot worse. The fund did regain much of what was lost last year which helped smooth out the core fund. Those of us in the variable have a ways to go to recover from last year’s loss. While in Florida there was an article in the paper that showed State Pension plans are $1 trillion short in funding. The article listed 5 states that were fully funded and Wisconsin was one of them. I received notice that the following members have passed away John Kranich (Wauwatosa), Gary Lennart (Greenfield) and Lyle Rigby (Racine). If you know of a member passing please let me know. Enclosed in this mailing is a flyer for our 3rd Annual Golf Outing which will take place on June 28th at the Baraboo Country Club. We really need to increase the number attending in order to keep the event going so please keep it in mind and try to attend if golf is your thing. Also remember to check our web site at http://www.rpffw.org . Rich Placek posts the latest information on the site as well as RPFFW clothing, decals, license plate frames etc. If you would like email updates go to the site and sign up for email notification. So two old retired fire fighters were sitting on their usual park bench one morning and Tim just finished his usual morning jog and wasn’t even short of breath. His friend Mr. Boz was amazed at his friend’s stamina and asked him what he did to have so much energy. Tim said "Well, I eat rye bread every day. It keeps your energy level high and you'll have great stamina in the bed room." So on his way home Mr. Boz stops at the bakery. As he was looking around, the lady asked if he needed any help. Mr. Boz said "Do you have any rye bread?" She said "Yes we have a shelf full would you like some?" Mr. Boz said "I'll take 5 loaves." She said "My goodness, 5 loaves by the time you get to the 3rd loaf, it'll be hard." Mr. Boz replied "I can't believe it, everybody knows about this shit but me." With that all of you take care and stay healthy and don't eat too much rye bread. Dave. |
